There's something about figs and blue cheese. Crumbling blue cheese on figs and grilling or baking them takes breakfast to a new level.
This was a canapé though. I had figs left from the chocolate fondue and breakfast delivery the previous weekend, and I still had 2/3 of a whole Blacksticks Blue left (the whole one is far superior to the pre-cut wedges you can find in supermarkets which are drier), so as I was putting together a few canapés for a delivery earlier in the week I tried this out. The idea was from an old Claridges classic of melon ball wrapped in parma ham with bocconcini mozzarella on a skewer.
